Ronald “Ron” Steinmann, 78, of Deansboro, NY passed away on March 29, 2025. Born in Utica, NY on January 2, 1947, he was the son of Walter Steinmann and Ruth Bennett Steinmann. Following graduation from high school Ron obtained his associate’s degree from SUNY Morrisville. Ron was united in marriage to Deborah VonDauber in 1970, a ceremony which took place at the Deansboro United Church of Christ.

Ron was the proud owner of Grandview Farm in Deansboro, where he proudly worked the soil and beautiful fields surrounding his beloved farm. He meticulously cared for his farm, especially his dairy cows whom Ron loved. Farming brought such a sense of pride to Ron; he was always happy to swap farming stories and share his knowledge with a fellow farmer. Although Ron had an incredible work ethic, he made sure to have fun too; in his younger days he could be found driving around showing off his Corvette.

Ron was a big believer in the community, Deansboro and its patrons held a special place in his heart. He joined the Barton Hose Company in 1964 and served as chief from 1983-1997, he served as the president from 2006-2018. Ron was also the President of the Oneida County Volunteer Fire Association. Ronald served as the past fire commissioner for the Deansboro Fire District, a role he was proud to fulfill. Ron always looked forward to local parades and seeing the firetrucks all lined up showcasing their district, he was thrilled to be the Oneida County Parade Judge. Ron was also a lifelong member of the Deansboro United Church of Christ.

Ronald leaves a legacy of hard work and community. His love of the local area was ever present in his service to many areas of Deansboro and Oneida County. Whether it was volunteering his time, serving in any role needed, or being sure to only shop locally Ronald was a staple in his community. His warm presence and giving heart will be missed by all who knew him.

Ron is survived by his son Chris (Sheree) Steinmann; sister Joyce Ingraham; grandchildren Kassidy Steinmann (Bradley Marris) and Spencer Steinmann. He was predeceased by his wife Deborah and his brother-in-law John Ingraham.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday April 4, 2025, from 5:00-8:00PM at Owens- Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held Saturday April 5, 2025, 9:30AM at the Deansboro Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at 11:30AM at The Barton Hose Company, 2640 State Route 12B, Deansboro, NY, 13328.
